Requirements to be Considered toward Chip Materials
Requirements towards materials of microfluidic chips
differ depending on the planned applications. Typically, the following requirements have to be considered:
– optical transparency for a good observation of the experiment
– biocompatibility
– chemical inertness (e. g. in flow chemistry)
– thermal properties, in particular heat conductivity and capacity or thermal stability
– mechanical properties, e.g. stiffness
– swelling capability
– electrical properties
