Working Principle of a Temperature-Based Flow Meter 

For the temperature-based flow rate measurement a tiny amount of heat is introduced into the fluid. The temperature differentials, which are monitored by sensors up- and downstream, provide information on the actual flow. While using them in Microfluidics, you have to consider the physical properties of the used fluid, e.g. specific heat capacity of the fluid.
